This was for a flash fiction writing contest based off of a song of my choice: Super Rad by the Aquabats
Applesauce Applesauce Applesauce
“We have arrived on Planet B. This mission is of the utmost importance to us and our families. The Octagon is counting on you to impress our fury upon them. If you are not prepared to die, don’t bother setting foot off this ship. Now, where are my bunny slippers?”
Tiny, Baldy, and I peered around the corner as we crept between buildings, my bunny slippers squeaking. There they were, the aliens, with big orange eyes and green skin. We were the perfect team to take care of this matter.
Baldy smirked as he lit bottle rockets and shot them off over the pond. Many of the aliens had stopped to watch as puffs of smoke exploded into the air with a loud bang. They were transfixed waiting for the next bang.
The coast was clear. Everyone’s attention was on the bottle rockets. As we passed through the front door, I smeared peanut butter under the doorknob. “Super rad.” Approved Tiny.
The building was round, squat, and purple. We followed as the corridor curved out of sight and used Baldy’s decoder ring to read the signs on the doors. With a bright flash the ring read out, “Galactic Federation of Peace: Commander Vee.”
“That’s the door,” I whispered. Baldy whipped out his tool kit and jimmied the door open. With a soft ping, the door swung open to reveal a table and chairs hanging from the ceiling. “So, this is what an alien office looks like?”
I set to work moving all his books on his shelf slightly to the left. Tiny jumped up onto the table and was making the chains that hung the table slightly squeaky. Baldy was attaching a rubber chicken to the door stop when we heard Commander Vee’s voice in the hallway, “ah dang it, I got something all over my hand.”
“Peanut butter.” We all giggled and rushed to get out of her office.
I set a whoopie cushion on her chair on the way out and we all ran like mad out of her office and back to the ship, giggling as my bunny slippers squeaked with each step.
